In this interactive workshop jules rosskam and Alex Samets will share with you some of the methods they used in crafting the characters and storyline for rosskam’s latest feature, Thick Relations. The film, a community-based collaboration, explores queer kinships in the face of loss. Join Jules and Alex in a discussion and series of exercises engaging the process they used in writing the script/score.

Jules Rosskam is an educator, artist, and activist. He is currently a visiting Assistant Professor at Hampshire College in Western Massachusetts. Jules is presently developing an interactive film performance on Utopia. Alex Samets is a fiction writer and educator. She is currently an adjunct professor at Bay Path College in Western Massachusetts and beginning in May she will be an MWS candidate at Smith College. Their collaboration includes the ongoing development of their community filmmaking model as well as a new feature length film about intimate power dynamics shifting in the face of illness.
